The first round of the competition will feature 40 violinists who will perform from May 19 to 21, 2022. To be considered for admission, each applicant submitted a series of recordings featuring movement from a Bach Solo Sonata or Partita, a Paganini Caprice or Ernst's Last Rose of Summer or Erlkonig, the first movement of Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor, and an introductory video.

The first prize winner will receive €30,000, a number of important international solo engagements - plus a loan of a fine violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini from Turin dated 1772, kindly loaned by Jane Ng through J & A Beare and the Beare’s International Violin Society.
